About the Artist

As a "second career" artist I layer my experiences in other worlds into collages and assemblages, which incorporate both concrete and abstract elements of those worlds. We live our lives surrounded by matter. Some of it is provided directly by natural processes, but, in our urban environment, most of it is designed and manufactured to detailed specifications for highly specialized purposes.

As an artist I am free to experiment, to disregard the original meaning or purpose of the material and use this matter for purposes for which it was never intended. Sometimes I can take “useful” items and turn them into “useless” objects for mere display. Conversely, I can take matter that is no longer suitable for its intended use to make art.
